Over the weekend Derek and I went to Zion National Park! We left Scarlett with my parents. It was our first time leaving her and it was well needed. We sure love and missed her but loved spending time together with just us two. She sure had a great time with my parents going on lots of walks, feeding the ducks, eating ice cream and playing. I'm sure she was a little bummed to leave them.
Derek and I stayed in Springdale the first night at a cute little hotel called the Bumbleberry Inn. After we checked in we drove into the park to do the canyon overlook hike. It was so great, only half mile but had an amazing view. We hiked up right before sunset and sat and watched the sky fade to pink and orange. We also loved driving through the big tunnel in the mountain side. Later that night when we were back at the hotel saw two buck deer eating the grass. We were literally four feet away! It was so cool! We ate a yummy Japanese restaurant for dinner called Baby Sumo. We were so impressed with how fresh and yummy our sushi was. After dinner we went over to Wildcat Willies for dessert. We had the famous Bumble berry pie and it was so yummy!
We woke up the next morning and took the shuttle to the go hike Angels Landing! We were both excited and a little nervous. The hike stared out steep with lots of switch backs. Once we got to the chains though it got even harder. I made sure to not look down over the edge and get freaked out about the drop off. Once we got to the top it was so beautiful! The view was amazing looking over the entire canyon. Our legs were super sore from hiking it felt like we ran a marathon. We ate lunch inside the park and it felt so nice to indulge in a yummy burger and fries! We hiked to Emerald Pools which was a easy hike with a pretty view of the virgin river and a big cave with little water falls coming over it. Before leaving we drove through the entire park and saw several big horn sheep hanging out on rock cliffs right from the road.
Later that day we drove to St George for the night. We stayed with some extended family that live down there. We ate dinner with them at this yummy pizza place. It was such a fun trip! We were sure glad to come home to Scarlett though. We sure missed her!
