San Francisco 2017

I just got back from a trip to San Francisco to visit my sister. She moved out there last year and I was super excited to go visit and see her new city. We ate way too much food and walked lots!

Zion National Park

Over the weekend Derek and I went to Zion National Park! We left Scarlett with my parents. It was our first time leaving her and it was well needed. We sure love and missed her but loved spending time together with just us two. She sure had a great time with my parents going on lots of walks, feeding the ducks, eating ice cream and playing. I'm sure she was a little bummed to leave them.

Bryce Canyon

A few weeks ago we went camping at Bryce Canyon National Park with some friends. We bought a trailer this summer and have been excited to go camping somewhere! We have never been to Bryce Canyon and it thought it would be a great place to check out and test out the trailer. Besides a flat tire on our first day we had a great trip. We hiked to see the hoodoos, skipped nap time, ate street tacos (tacos in a chip bag, my new favorite thing!) saw pretty sunsets, biked around our camp ground, went swimming, star gazed, stayed up late talking around the camp fire and ate way too many s'mores. I can't wait to plan our next camping trip!

A weekend trip to Southern California

A few photos from our quick weekend trip to Southern California. I was hired to shoot a wedding in Newport Beach so we decided to go a day early and play. It was a fun little trip. We visited extended family that we don't get to see very much, ate yummy food, went to Seal Beach and walked on the pier. I took some formal wedding photos on the beach at sunrise on morning and snapped a few photos as I was waiting for the couple to arrive. It was beautiful and so nice (and weird) to watch the sunrise by myself on the beach. I haven't sat and watched the sunrise for what felt like years so it was a nice treat and worth the early alarm clock. 

North Shore, Hawaii

Our trip to the North Shore of Oahu was so great! My whole family went and it was the first family vacation of all 10 of us. We stayed in a cute house right across from the beach with an awesome pool. Our first night there we were pretty tired after traveling all day. We eat dinner at a little food truck called Surf & Salsa. Very yummy mexican food! We enjoyed hanging out at the beach playing in the sand and Scar eating some too!

Snow Canyon

Last weekend I went to St. George to photograph a wedding. My mom came along to help babysit. We had a fun weekend visting extended family, and going to Swig every chance we had.

Corona Del Mar

While in California we went to the beach at Corona Del Mar. It is such a cute little beach with lots of tide pools and some caves to explore.

Huntington Beach

Our first day in California we went straight from the airport to Huntington Beach! We ate at Wahoo Tacos and it was so yummy! Then we walked down to the ocean, and dipped our toes in. Scarlett seemed to like it! She didn't even cry when I put her toes in the chilly water :)

California was just what i needed. our week was filled with...

surfing bolsa chica with my dad,
visiting extended family and all the littles,
my birthday,
family photos,
sister date,
canal bike ride,
body surfing and getting sand everywhere,
drippy sand castles,
seagull attack!
chess,
ssprinkles,
vintage scarves in hair,
fish company
and many more moments in between. as much as i love vacations, i sure love having a place to call home and sharing it with my schnookums.

drove home today from california & thank heavens for my work horse of a husband who loves to drive.

it feels so rejuvenating to be home. in our own house. together just us two.

once i get back in the swing of things i'll be sure to show + tell ya all about the fun we had.

in a sunny haze.

at the strike of 1:00am last friday derek and i set out on a road trip to phoenix AZ! with no one on the roads we made it there in no time. we spent our time there staying with his grandparents in a retirement community, or as derek likes to call it "the lords waiting room." we were spoiled by them to have breakfast made for us every morning, swap meet shopping, 18 holes of golf for derek, and even lunch with a flock of flamingos. we had so much fun hanging out with all these cute old people that loved you after just barely meeting you. derek was inspired with their witty remarks and i was by all the ladies fashion sense. ( those rusty pants were a thrift find from the one and only buffalo exchange, along with that polkadotted blouse.)
