A fall hike in the mountains

^ Scar was happiest holding *and chewing* on sticks

We went for a hike today at a family in between General Conference sessions. We haven't hiked as a family since memorial day! That is so long. We live close to some cool trails that we need to check out more. We hiked from the top of the North Ogden Divide and found some pretty fall leaves. It was a short hike but super steep. Derek and I are a little out of shape and were pretty winded early in haha. I can't tell I will be sore tomorrow but it was so worth it. Such a pretty fall family hike!

the gourd.

the tiniest pumpkins that ever lived!

<<>>

i have been hassling derek to take me to a pumpkin patch. he thought this sounded to girly or childish so he made me a deal. he said he would take me as long as i said we were going to "the gourd." today we set out to get some 'gourds' at the fish farm in north ogden. when we get there they tell us we have to walk through the kiddie corn maze to get to the pumpkins. so we head through the maze and soon get lost. after having the worker come lead us out, we exit only to find an empty pumpkinless field. there is a small table with some picked over corn stocks and the tiniest pumpkins i have ever seen!! (that's including the ones at the grocery store.) we leave laughing holding our fist size pumpkins and decide to head to this patch a ways away. luckily this place had it all! pumpkin pickin', hayrides, corn maze,  and already picked pumpkins of every size-just what we were looking for. after a goose chase and some good laughs, we got ourselves some gourds.

seeyabye.

officially fall.

i took a drive to my parents house in Eden sunday night for some family, lounging and snuggling
with my doggy friends. after living up there and moving to ogden i have totally been sensitized to
how beautiful it is up there. there were leaves of every color. like a sunset. and to see it reflecting
on the lake was even better. i love fall and it's finally here.

happy pumpkin season!

saturday.

after work i swung by one of my favorite cupcake parlors in ogden to get a little something for my sweet tooth. i was pleased to try their root beer float. and shortly after i got home, derek was off to his job. i spent the rest of the night all bundled up in my favorite sweats and blankets enjoying some down time from my busy week.

p.s. i'm so glad this is a 3 day weekend! (from work that is) hooray for columbus day.

what not to do at the car wash

1. wear a skirt
2. go on a windy day
3. not have exact change and put a 20 in the change machine
{i now have 76 quarters in my car}

i'll have to remember these things for next time. which will be in a while since i wash my car about 3 times a year. but in other news while i was vacuuming, i found my old phone that vanished almost exactly a year ago! i guess it had fallen and slid under my seat and had been living there ever since.

and yes it rained today. this is why i never wash Silvia.

weekend

this past weekend derek & i drove to provo for the biggest rivalry in utah, the byu us utah game.
and of course we did some smuggling as usual. this time we went carbonated as opposed to last year. and even brought some serious supplies. it was a super sad game. poor byu lost big time. and poor derek had to drive home alone, once we got to our car i was out. we did get to see my little sis Kensie while we were down at byu. and she made the most delicious health pumpkin cupcakes with NO BUTTER & NO SUGAR. even derek, who i can't trick into eating veggies any day, loved them. she is already so ahead of me. my freshman year at usu i lived off garnola bars and aggie ice cream. needless to say it was a swell weekend.
